A difficult life of a person who doesn’t want to be labeled as nothing else just as a person / Business + human rights opinion text
Hi, it's me yapping. This time about human rights and how it affects our social/economical situation.

These months I worked a lot in different fields of my life. I fell in love with working and I’m enjoying it, but sometimes if anything happens in your personal life - you start getting bumping your head. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of anxiety, life shifts and your basic functions can start lagging. You become less energetic, more avoidant. That’s how we sometimes struggle through the day at work or hanging out with friends. Because combining anxiety with functionality doesn’t go well together sometimes.
There are many ways to define things, but what we can’t ignore is the fact that in our work lives we live a bit of a rat race game. We have to be efficient, because those who don’t perform sooner or later get out of the game. But how do we combine anxiety and high-level performance?
Hardly, but people are going like that, almost everyone. It’s a human feeling, right?
Some things like tiredness we recognise as a general human feeling. We don’t question it anymore, I believe. There are more layers to this and I don’t want to get stuck here as capitalism and tiredness is not the purpose of this text.
The purpose of this text is to analyse labelism system in our society and how it drains us.
June was a pride month. I had not that much connection with the content. Some of it reached me out, but not much. And that’s weird, right? Because some months ago I went viral with a post about homophobia in Lithuania.
After my post that you can find on my FB profile, I gave some interviews on media channels. I was labeled by one media channel as a member of LGBT community lol lol lol. At that moment I didn’t feel pride. Not because I’m ashamed of LGBT as a community. It’s because I never actually labeled myself and it’s weird that in our society we do that all the time.
To be honest, I live quite a basic life. I work at an agency. Soon should start tutoring at business school and doing many side projects, because I like creating and I need money lol.
I do have to admit that if it comes to love relationships, you have to verbalise it. Not that I want to, but to introduce to the concept.
In my life I dated both men and women and I don’t know and from teenage years I don’t believe anything was forced. Why am I telling this? What was forced was the information I was always receiving and which led me to fear, self-suppression.
I don’t know how people see the world, but I see us as explorers. So many different goals, so many different stories. But what makes us alive is the addiction to live another day. To explore this universe. As much as it hurts sometimes.
One way or another we are labeled by names. We are carrying it all the time. Some of them identify our genders, marital positions. You think that doesn’t matter? It does. Ask women who deal with issues after pregnancy. Or even before. Or men who are left with a burden to carry on the surname and it becomes like a primary goal, but maybe not the one that is suitable at that time. It's for clarity many conservatives would say.
But if you can recognise a woman or a man, what annoys me the most that queerness or resembling members of LGBT can’t really be described from any signs. Many of them look straight, sometimes very queer. In reality it’s vice versa. Take for example that chav trend to wear skinny pants and moccasins, 15 years they were screaming how gay it is.
Humans are just humans - they look weird, because they are all different.
Queer people whether their sexuality is traditional or not traditional are struggling with their performative identity. Because in reality they are humans and that’s how they feel life, but some people are looking to the world from a bit different perceptions. Because of that even straight guys get hurt lol. And I won’t analyse why, because this text is a bit more.
I think what's important is that many people from LGBT community or as humanity would like them to define themselves, wouldn’t want to label themselves other than humans. I believe many women too, many men as well. That’s why we usually talk about human rights.
But there is a big issue during these times as political situation is getting worse and it resembles quite terrible times if we compare it to historical periods. Some people are afraid of themselves again. I can tell it from many things. How we talk on media, what I feel seeing queer people, LGBT people.
The thing is that LGBT people if they are open or resemble it, struggle with some political and social struggles. That later can be held as psychological issues. But some outcomes and how the world is treating you can lead to it.
I am a very active and high performing human being, but I have issues with anxiety. My long-time frenemy. For me it was a very difficult task to find employees that would align with my anxieties. I feel like that’s why I started working at agencies, because it’s very goal oriented, not that much how. You provide solutions and it’s all that matters.
But when you take the idea that some queers can be beaten in life, rejected, constantly seeing negative things about themselves and they have to perform at work at the same level as people who don't need to think about it. About the safety. That’s why I do believe we have human crisis right now.
Before covid we were thirsty to explore the world. Travelling was such a big thing and cultures were expanding. Then the world closed for a moment and we entered war period. And now in politics we are once again seeking some kind of blame in people. We judge.
We judge if we can give rights for gays to marry. Or we are not sure if we should protect women more.
To be honest, for me, it’s so dumb, because I mean whatever the law says I will still love whatever I want, it’s not what majorities can control. And no men who had several women or are unfaithful can tell me otherwise. As God is watching.
And there are many Gods that are watching and many people looking through their eyes. Which is a scary concept. Because no religion showed us answers. And when people think that any person can lead them to some kind of better future, it is scary. As the future is uknown, we can only wish for the best haha.
A year ago I was thinking about words Good and God. That only one o separates them. I believe that if we believe in good, we can solve things. God is good.
But okay okay, this is very philosophical. Very humanistic. Very humanitarian type of writing. Means - no structure, lol.
Ok, let’s come back to the political issue.
By not giving rights to different communities, we are messing up with the whole economical system. We are tiring people, because people are using their energy to mask their personalities, their true selves, because nobody wants to be labeled.
And yes, unfortunately, we still need to use words as homosexuals, because there are people who see two men and they come to kill them. Just because like that. And the naming is mainly needed, because it is associated with abnormality and everything what goes out of the normative, conservative circle has a bigger risk to be harmed.
Why? Because some people live like they are on fortnite or gta san andreas. I have no other logical explanation. I believe even your favorite philosopher wouldn’t disagree with me.
Not all employees are empathetic. To be honest, I was lucky most of my employers were emotionally developed people and I’m grateful for that. But some were disastrous. Machines. Empathy level is so low that if you are a minority and you are experiencing life difficulties and challenges, you are getting out of the system or being punished or not allowed a lot.
Some people who evaluate people through minority and majority terms are highly incapable to understand that one way or another we all are always shifting of where we are a minority and where majority. The belonging. The feeling to belong is trying to make us part of the majority.
But that’s where I get lost. I don’t know, for example, if I’m LGBT, because I don't see the world as only straights and gays, so I just don't want to belong on these terms, I never signed any pact. And even if I’m a man, I don’t know if that should be a very important information, so I would be called mister. Mysterious yes, but lol, a mister?
However, that’s how we all feel sometimes. Trapped. Hetero men pressured because they will be heads of families and protect countries. Women because they are pushed to have kids and many gender norms, especially at work. We have racial challenges, sexuality challenges. We have life challenges.
But we are all surprised when it happens to someone, we just tell feel better and hope they will get better soon. Well in business that’s not always working like that. As efficiency is affected.
But you know if there’s one rule of efficiency is that you have to have a clear mind to be efficient. And clarity comes without overthinking. So first of all, my tips that you never asked for. And in general I don’t really understand what type of text it is.
Back to the tips - be informed, many people are now going through mental challenges. So be patient. The world get better. Business to.
Patience helped me to live through the darkest days and stay efficient at work. Because I had people around me who are patient and I was patient as well. And that I was able to identify it as a crucial skill to learn thank to my favourite person in the world. I love you always.
Not all the people have this privilege, but once again - patience, life will solve it out.
Stop reading news as they are some kind of defining oracles. They are pushing information as well. People are living their lives the best they can and that should be enough information not to hate people.
Besides narcissistic people, most of the humanity should hate themselves a little. In hard periods it can be a lot. We are not helping if we are bitching. If we are treating people like we know better. When we state rather than ask.
I think the most human rule is to ask a person to get answer, not try to read. If you want to know what’s happening at some institution - go talk with people working there, why are you believing anyone else? If you don’t know how to treat people with disabilities why don’t just talk to them and figure out in the process? If you don’t know if gays are different kind of species why don’t you just ask them?
Talk. Because the more we talk, the harder is to label. When we use less words it leads to simplifying and disattaching. When we use more words, we connect, we get more information..
Ok. That was a dramatic ending with my tips that no one asked for. But for real. I’m leaving this thought on the internet, because I believe that business that are humans should be chill a bit.
We are working in war times and we will feel tough for quite a long period of time. But as always what stays are communities. So hold them up. Lately, in Malta, where I live there were quite some suicides. So I feel like talking about mental health is crucial in these times. But talking about mental health awareness can’t come without examples and being a bit transparent. So sorry for my personal tea at some parts.
If you are struggling mentally, just use internet and save yourself. You will find people. Always.
And a message for business - because each of us are a part of some kind of business - be more inclusive. It will come back with return. We all learned that, because these non inclusive right agenda times are leading us too a worse economy, not better. To a war economy, rather peace one.
So my pride month is about transparency. Because if we want to fix this world, we have to be transparent with what kind of issues we are dealing with. To tackle them. Finally. And it starts with talking.
